Missing JNU Student Najeeb Ahmed Mother, Detained In 200 Other In Delhi : On Sunday, student of JNU University protested against the government near India Gate over missing JNU student Najeeb Ahmed. CM of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal urged JNU student to take their protest over the missing of Najeeb 20 days ago to India Gate to spur the government into action. Around 200 JNU University student’s as well as missing JNU student Najeeb Ahmed’s mother were detained on Sunday while they were proceeding to stage a protest near India Gate against police inaction the case.
One of the protestors, Shahid Raza, alleged that police manhandled Najeeb’s mother Fatima. The detainees were taken to Mandir Marg police station,police said. “The police detained us on the way to India Gate. They manhandled Najeeb’s mother.. In fact, two young women riding an auto rickshaw were detained by male police officials who were not accompanied by any women police official,” Raza said.
Fatima Nafees, mother of Najeeb Ahmed, along with the student’s, who were on their way to India Gate, was allegedly dragged into a bus by the Delhi police. triggering criticism from Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal who decided to visit the police station. Fatima and her daughter Sadaf, were later released.
after the meeting, Mr Kejriwal told reporters that the police did not any action in the matter due to “political pressure”.
“people who were involved in the brawl with Najeeb were questioned by the police yesterday, 22 days after he went missing. that was also a formality,”news agency press trust of India quoted him as saying.
